Consultation Fees and NHS provision

Our fees are based upon our projection of the time required for each assessment and consultation.  We like to quote you the accurate fee before booking the appointment.  Thank you for your cooperation in answering our standard questions.  We will not charge you for additional tests or advice without your prior consent.

Example Fees:

Vision Assessment and Consultation                      £85

Child Core Vision Development Assessment           £140 (inc report)

Sight Test*                          Free of charge when entitled to NHS*

Child Progress Assessment                                  £115

Vision Therapy Progress Assessment                    £160 (inc report)

Full Vision and Learning Assessment                    £370 (inc vision and learning report)

Vision Therapy Sessions                                     £68

* Sight Test. Owen Leigh's experience has shown that the sight test is very inefficient at detecting vision development and binocularity issues.  We will discuss your concerns and needs and recommend the appropriate testing to access our clinic's advanced services. We will book a sight test only if that is your desire, however to fully understand your child's vision we would normally recommend the more detailed assessement in order for us to help them.

* NHS entitlement is rather complex, depending upon age, vision, family history, interval since previous eye examination/sight test and income (specific benefits).  We will ask you several questions to ensure that you receive your entitlement and will be pleased to provide you with a leaflet and or income claim form.  If it appears that you may be entitled to NHS provisions this will cover the Sight Test part of your appointment.

Because we want to give you a definitive quotation wherever possible we assume that all 'children' (under 19 in full time education) will be entitled to an NHS sight test and the above fees take this into account.  If your child is not entitled (e.g. because they had a sight test within one year) we will not charge you for those additional tests if they are needed.

Spectacles - Price Match Promise. We endeavour to provide the highest quality at competitive prices.  NHS vouchers can be used towards the cost of glasses. You may choose glasses from our wide range or take the voucher to any practice of your choice. The average cost of glasses at this practice after the voucher was deducted was £54 in 2009.

Price Match Promise: We will refund twice the difference if you can find the same product (complete spectacles) cheaper at any other registered optical practice.

Private Health Insurance.

We will be pleased to help your claim for Private Health Insurance but the companies are very restrictive on their coverage.  Our specialism is the treatment of vision development difficulties, training of visual awareness, and visual rehabilitation therapies.  These are not covered by Health Insurance.
